About

For more than 20 years James has assisted organisations to develop more purposeful and confident leaders. James’ practice in the leadership space is shaped by two key elements: his lived experience in Senior Leadership Roles and his deep experience in adult development principles. Over the last 15 years James has held senior leadership roles in large organisations in both Australia and Asia. These have given him a felt experience for the challenges, tensions and expectations faced by senior leaders. Secondly, through continuing further studies, James has gained a deep appreciation of the way adults develop and learn. This understanding allows him to work with individuals and groups such that they can work with the unconscious dynamics allowing them to stay with, rather than defend against, organisational complexity.

Experience

Over the last five years James has held senior leadership roles at Melbourne Business School, including General Manager Executive Education. Prior to MBS, James has worked in several diverse roles including Director Leadership Development AXA Asia Pacific. Based in Singapore, he was responsible for the establishment of AXA’s Asia Pacific University Campus servicing 30,000 staff in the region. James has also worked as a Principal Consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, as a Mining Engineer with Rio Tinto and founded his own leadership development consultancy. This diverse background brings new insights for clients as well as a very pragmatic, business output-driven approach in his work.
