  • Background

Barb is passionate about developing leadership capacity and facilitating cultural change to support individuals and organisations to thrive. She is a thoughtful transformational change advocate for our environmental, social and economic systems and she specialises in developing the capability of astute people motivated to lead the regeneration of our planet.

Barb co-founded the Institute of Regenerative Leadership and Be Exceptional Consulting & Coaching to expand her capacity to develop leadership competence. She supports leaders and aspiring leaders to develop their personal mastery and create teams that shift systems and create effective solutions to ‘wicked’ policy problems.

Consistent with her commitment to support community transformational change, in March 2019 Barb worked with a group of community leaders in Margaret River and Broome, WA to develop their awareness, confidence and ability to influence and lead. She coached all the program participants over a six-month period and several have gone on to attain senior leadership roles across the state including with the WA Police, local government and in private enterprise.

Barb’s coaching philosophy is personalised. She uses a range of tools including the Being Profile, Strengths, Emotional Intelligence and Positive Psychology interventions to support her client’s growth and development.

Barb is an associate of Engenesis and she was trained and accredited with the first cohort in the world to use the Being Profile, an Australian developed Ontological Assessment and Coaching tool. Currently, she and her business partner are the only two people in WA accredited to debrief and coach using the Being Profile, which assesses 31 ways of being essential to leadership. Barb has worked with individuals and teams from diverse sectors including police, local, state and federal government, health, agriculture, education, arts and business. She particularly enjoys working with people with an entrepreneurial mindset and a strong sense of higher purpose.

  • What We Care About

The issues we face today in organisations and globally will require unprecedented leadership and unprecedented levels of co-operation concurrently, to mobilise communities and organisations.

A New Paradigm for the Future

To make progress on our most significant issues, we need a new paradigm—one that inspires us to:

  • Act constructively in a values-driven way
  • Empower each other to take responsibility and accountability at all levels of the organisation
  • Shift our focus from problem-centric to solution-centric (positive change)
  • Make progress on the toughest issues and challenges
  • Create an environment of breakthrough performance, and high levels of commitment and learning
  • Liberate ourselves from old ways of thinking about how to manage and lead people
  • Develop systems intelligence.
  • As the industrial age wanes, new possibilities emerge to create a different paradigm of leadership. I propose a new paradigm that draws from many sources and builds on them in an integrative way.

The mechanistic, industrial paradigm has been in existence since the latter part of the 18th century and continues to shape society and modern organisations. It is a long, slow journey, yet incredibly worthwhile.
